Ankle Mobility Exercises

This short clip shows two simple ankle mobility exercises.  The first is a rotational, or transverse plane, exercise.  The second is a front plane calf stretch.  The rotational exercise can be used to help increase a rigid ankle that lacks transverse plan range of motion.  This lack of ROM is often associated with turned-out feet while sprinting, especially in adolescent female athletes.
Please bear with us as we get used to properly utilizing video on speedandstrengthcoach.com. The videos work by double clicking an item, but the clarity is not optimal and the entire frame doesn't show up. Right now, there are only two short video samples. We will continue working on this to bring you more quality video clips. The audio works perfectly and sounds fantastic.

Hip Mobility Exercises

Proper mobility and function in the hips, especially internal & external rotation, seem to be a fairly common problem amongst athletes. This video quickly demonstrates a few simple exercises that can make a big difference. While they may not be necessary for every athlete, it certainly cannot hurt to implement them in a group setting. The exercises and rationale for their use is discussed in more detail in New Feature Article Multi-Dimensional Hip Training by Jim Kielbaso.
